Te Kura update COVID-19 Auckland Level 3, remainder of NZ Level 2
From midday on Wednesday, 12 August 2020, Auckland moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 3. The rest of New Zealand moved to Alert Level 2. The following is an update of Te Kura's operations at these Alert Levels. These measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 will apply for three days while information is gathered and contact tracing and testing is underway. [Update: these Alert Levels were extended on Friday 14 August until Wednesday 26 August]
Te Kura Auckland and Northland:
- Our premises in Auckland and Whangarei are closed, this includes our Head Office for Te Kura’s Northern Region (Auckland and Northland).
- There will be no face-to-face huinga ako (advisories) in our Northern Region. Huinga ako will be offered online. All affected ākonga can expect to be contacted by Te Kura.
- Ākonga (students) on Trades Academy and Gateway courses have been advised that classes are cancelled for the rest of the week.
- Whānau of ākonga (students) on Enviroskills courses will be contacted as needed.
- Ākonga (students) who have paper-based provision will receive work but are asked not to return work by post or courier at the moment. Please follow advice about returning work from your kaimanaaki (learning advisor) or kaiako (teacher).
Te Kura services and support available:
- Our Northern Region kaimahi (staff) are working from home and are available online and by phone.
- Our other offices across New Zealand, including our National Office in Wellington, are open.
- Ākonga (students) online learning programmes, including online huinga ako (advisories) will continue.

Te Kura services, remainder of New Zealand at Alert Level 2:
- Te Kura’s offices outside our Northern Region (Auckland and Northland) are open and our services continue.
- Te Kura kaimahi (staff) who are considered high risk, for example those with underlying medical conditions, are being encouraged to work remotely.
- We also encourage ākonga (students) with underlying medical conditions that make you at higher risk from COVID to stay home.
- Huinga ako (advisories) outside our Northern region may be run face-to-face with physical distancing and hygiene arrangements.
- Our face-to-face huinga ako (advisories) are running with safety precautions in place. If you’re feeling unwell, please don’t attend. There are online huinga ako options.
- Ākonga (students) who have paper-based provision will receive work but are asked not to return work by post or courier at the moment. Please follow advice about returning work from your kaimanaaki (learning advisor) or kaiako (teacher).
